Lawn aeration in Summit Park

Summit Park is steep, wooded and higher up than most of the Park City area. Snow tends to stay longer here, and it comes back sooner in the fall. That changes when you should aerate.

Timing is different up here

Spring: Wait until the snow is gone and the lawn has dried out. In Summit Park that is often later than down in the basin. If the ground is still frozen a couple of inches down, or soggy from snowmelt, it is too early. We would rather come a little later and do it right.

Fall: Go earlier in the fall window. Aim for September rather than late October. That gives the grass more time to grow into the holes before winter shows up.

Our guide on when to aerate in Park City has more on reading your ground.

Lawns on steep lots

Many Summit Park lawns are small and terraced, tucked into the hillside. Packed slopes shed water fast, so aeration helps the water soak in where you want it. We aerate what we can reach safely. We reserve the right to skip any slope or part of a yard that would put our crew in a dangerous position, and we will tell you if we do. No surprises on the invoice.

Before your day

  • Water the day before. Dry hillside soil gets very hard.
  • Make sure we can get to the lawn. Unlock gates and clear any stairs or paths we need to use.
  • Tell us about anything buried shallow in the lawn.
